Rules & Competition Guidelines
Official regulations governing Highflying Pigeon Duration competitions, release verification, stamp seals, and daily loft scoring.
1
General Competition Principles
- Highflying duration competitions judge player lofts based on the total cumulative flying time of registered pigeons. Every participating pigeon must be equipped with an official, tamper-evident leg ring registered in the tournament database prior to release.
- All pigeons in a loft flock must be released simultaneously on release morning.
- Official release time (e.g., 06:00:00 AM) is established by designated neutral referees.
- Pigeons flying beyond official tournament cutoff hours (sunset or maximum hours) must land before official cutoff to count toward daily duration.
2
Release & Return Timing Regulations
- Exact timing precision is essential for fair competition. Timing is recorded down to the exact second (HH:MM:SS) by official referees stationed at the player loft.
- Release Verification: Referees verify loft doors opening and full flock takeoff. Takeoff must be completed within 15 minutes of official release signal.
- Landing Verification: A pigeon is officially logged as landed when it touches the designated loft landing board or roof in the presence of the referee.
3
Double Stamp & Wing Verification
- Tournaments featuring double-stamp rules enforce strict wing marking to prevent bird substitution during flight.
- Primary wing feathers are stamped with secret tournament ink seals 30 minutes before release.
- Upon landing, referees inspect stamp clarity, leg ring code, and physical condition.
- Any evidence of tampered stamps or mismatched ring numbers results in immediate bird disqualification.
4
Disqualification & DNF Guidelines
- DNF (Did Not Finish): Pigeon failed to land before evening cutoff or landed at an unapproved secondary location.
- ABS (Absent): Loft or bird did not participate on official flight day due to weather or withdrawal.
- DQ (Disqualified): Rule violation, ring seal tampering, or unauthorized referee interference.
